Government exists to solve problems that individuals on their own cannot solve. Taxes exists to support those tasks which are determined by the people to be the responsibility of Government. The level of government that is assigned these tasks should be as low as possible to ensure oversight by the citizenry. The level of government assigned tasks should be appropriate to the proportion of the population effected by the task and resources available. Example: Water supplies have been the responsibility of local government because supplies were plentiful in the past- Population dictate that this is now a State level responsibility.

Yes a) Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
Yes b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Should citizens be allowed to carry concealed guns?
Yes d) Should a license be required for gun possession?
I believe in the 2nd Amendment. I also believe that unrestricted gun ownership is foolish. A weapon is a dangerous instrument and training and licensing is the minimum that should be required. I believe background checks are essential to protect the safety of society. People kill people and unstable people should not be allowed near guns. In addition to background checks I think two of the following three references should be provided before a person can get a license: from a parent, teacher, minister and or police officer.

Marriage is a religious institution and should be available to all within the guidelines of the church performing the ceremony. Civil unions and marriage licenses are government sanctions of relationships and thus should be open to same-sex couples.
